Does Yahweh (God) ALWAYS Hear EVERYONE'S Prayers?

I know that many people desire to make others feel better by always telling them that “God always hears their prayers” but is this true, according to the Bible? Are we actually doing them a disservice by truly attempting to encourage them, yet disagreeing with the Word?

The fact of the matter is, sin separates. If we do not believe this, we disagree with even the Garden of Eden account. At the beginning of humanity as we know it, a clear pattern was established, all the way back to our natural father Adam. Sin and rebellion constitute banishment from Father’s intimate presence, provision and safety.

One simply cannot live as one pleases and casually walk up to Yahweh and make a request that He must fulfil, because “He hears everyone’s prayers.” And here we are yet again facing the importance of lawless living. Proverbs 28:9 tells us “One who turns his ear away from listening to the Torah, even his prayer is an abomination.” Same theme. Same concerns. Yes, Yeshua’s act most assuredly rent the veil, but are there now no longer any requirements to approach the Father, through the Son?

Today’s text tells us that there are iniquities “in the way” and something must be done with them. Teshuvah, repentance, a REturning. How? A laying aside of one’s own arrogance and pride that says we can exalt our own way above our Creator’s. Yes, we know that “Yahweh is gracious and compassionate; slow to anger and great in mercy.” (Psalm 145:8) Yes and amen! But we must be full and fair as we read just a few verses later, “Yahweh watches over all who love Him, but He will destroy all the wicked.” And we have been told by Him how we love Him, via His Son who stated, “If you love me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) “For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” (1 John 5:3)

Yahweh does not merely love as an action, He IS love, literally (1 John 4:8.) And He is holy, righteous and just. He is “set up in opposition towards the proud, but gives His grace to the humble.” (James 4:6) “For Yahweh is exalted, Yet He looks after the lowly, But He knows the haughty from afar.” (Psalm 138:6)

These biblical texts should cause us to tremble and take the necessary measures to be found repentant, humble and acceptable in Father’s sight. We must do our part! The Word makes it clear - there are requirements to come to the Almighty. Let’s allow the finished work of Messiah to be exalted and set in its proper place and purpose, yes. But may we remember, all depends FIRST upon the hearts of men. Selah.
