Some Thoughts About the "New Year"

Some thoughts towards “New Years.”

Please allow this to be a gentle reminder that you do not have to live according to the Gregorian calendar. The new year, biblically speaking, spoken by Yahweh Himself, begins in the Spring, when all is coming into life – Abib (Exodus 12:2.) Two weeks later is Passover.
By living according to this biblical calendar, one is postured to properly celebrate Yahweh’s Feasts as we fulfil Exodus 12:14 which states “This day (Passover) shall be for you a Memorial Day, and you shall keep it as a Feast to Yahweh; throughout your generations, as a statute forever, you shall keep it as a Feast.”
His People, on His timetable, forever remember that He is a liberator and redeemer as we do our part to remember and memorialize His Feasts!
Ironically, people accuse us of “returning to being in bondage” as we only strive to literally live according to a different calendar and celebratory festivals that are simply sourced in the Bible. So, is joining in with the ways of the nations and attempting to somehow “redeem” them a better option? I would humbly submit that those who continue to celebrate the worldly festivals of men (which are divorced from Yahweh’s Ways) are the ones who are really in bondage.
We must all choose. Do we join in with the world and all that she does and lives according to, or do we really live set apart and walk the ancient, good way? Do we celebrate alongside the ways of the nations, doing what they do or do we find and join ourselves with those who remember and recall the works of Yahweh’s hand, as we’ve been instructed? The choice is easy, really, once our eyes become open.
In the end, this is simply a matter of how set apart one desires to be and how much you long to truly live according to what Father has given us in the Scriptures. There is a cost, yes. You will look foolish and be told you’re missing out on all of the fun and “liberty” of “living free.” We just don’t see it this way at all. It would be ludicrous for us now to engage in worldly traditions that the majority do yet abandon what our Father has given to us, to be His set apart, celebratory People.
Please consider well, friends. You too can be free and set apart!
