Was Yeshua (Jesus) Super-Human or Something Else?
As my understanding of Who Yeshua (Jesus) was expanding, I began to rightly esteem Him as He deserves. I had always seen Him as Savior. I thought that I had grasped that He did what no other man *could* do. But through a complete study of the entire Word, I saw a great shift come into view that would change my view of my Messiah forever and exalt Him so significantly.
Our text today is a great example of this. Messiah’s will was in a lowered place. He literally *chose* to endure and obey, to the utmost. Simply put - we, and all others aside from Yeshua, do not. Many will quickly say “well, He was full of the Holy Spirit though!” Yes, and so were countless others, even in the Old Testament period. (We even see this all the way back in Exodus 35, as with “Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah” who was “filled with Spirit of Yahweh” in order to construct the Tabernacle.) We must properly understand what the Spirit’s role even is.
Getting back to my point, I allowed the Word of Elohim to correct the statement that I made (towards what I *thought* that I had grasped about Yeshua’s obedience.) As I studied my Messiah more, something incredible happened. I, for the first time, understood that it was not about Yeshua doing what no man before Him *COULD* do, but rather He did what no man before Him *WOULD* do. Messiah surely entirely agreed with the Torah words of Deuteronomy which told Him and continues to tell all who will listen, “For this commandment which I [Yahweh] am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far away.” (30:11)
Did you catch that? I allowed the Word to reveal that Yeshua did what no man *would* do, not what no man *could* do. If we say that man cannot walk free from sin and obey, we absolutely must abandon what Yahweh stated in Deuteronomy 30. We would have to say that Eve was simply incapable of resisting the Adversary in the Garden. We would also have to thereby say that Yeshua could not do it either, in the form of man. Messiah knew, and lived according to, what would be written after He ascended to His Great High Priestly role in 1 Timothy chapter 1, “But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully.”
He knew that perfect obedience to His Father would enable all others who would come after Him and walk as He walked to be on a sanctification journey into His likeness. A journey that would also allow all others to literally be holy as His Father is holy. Just… like… Him.
Therefore Hebrews 4:15 can boldly proclaim “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things just as we are, yet without sin.”
One must shift his paradigm entirely if he will ever see the incredible work of Yeshua’s obedience. I have now exalted Him higher than I ever did previously. And now? Today He is my Great High Priest. Entirely qualified to be my wonderful Mediator Messiah. Amen.
