Discernment in an Age of Deception

Years ago, I used to do some buying and reselling of cars, for profit. I thoroughly enjoyed doing it and made some decent money along the way. With the present condition of my business, I’ve been exploring doing it again today, out of necessity.

As I’ve looked more into it, I’ve been amazed at how the market has changed. Listings are overflowing with deceptive listings. I would venture to guess that 75% of them are not even legitimate whatsoever. I’ve picked up on patterns and can usually spot them relatively easily now, but at times, it can be tricky.

Thinking on this issue this morning, I moved into the spiritual. The patterns of humanity have continued on in like manner. Whether it’s “news”, politics or this matrix of a reality that we all live within, one had better increase their level of discernment or else we’re all going to be conned. Religion is no exception. In most arenas, testing all things according to the Scriptures has gone out the window entirely. Most everything, even in unexpected places, is up to one’s own personal discretion. Emotions, feelings and majority rule.

So, consider this some cold water upon your face this morning. Wake up oh sleeper! Shake off the slumber and wipe the sleep from your eyes. See clearly. Think through all that you will be presented today. Take the necessary time to make decisions according to the Word. Wait. Don’t rush. Don’t move in haste, void of discernment.

Today, it may merely be making a bad financial decision. Yet tomorrow it may be something that is life and death. Devour the Scriptures, friend. Learn. Mature. Walk in the likeness of righteous men that went before us. None more than our Messiah, the Firstborn of many Brethren. There is a way to walk, in all things. I urge you to take the time to discern and know what it is. – J
