Modern doctrines have taught us that anyone can call out to Yahweh at any given time, in any way. But is this scriptural? In my present study and preparation for an upcoming 5-part video series, I keep finding many biblical patterns towards this concern.
In our Bibles, men like David specifically called out unto Yahweh, by name. Other righteous men had always preserved a heritage of called out ones that declared the mighty Name of the Most High.
Although I’m in no way promoting that you must recite certain words/names in some perfect order or way in order to be heard by the Creator, we must be careful that we do not move out of the scriptural patterns that we’ve been given.
The Hebrew word used here, and so many other times, to “cry out” is “qara.” This is, in this case (and many others), a direct cry unto someone specifically, by name. Even in a general sense, one may start out by calling out to “god”, in need of help, yet in ignorance of where their help comes from. A true relationship should quickly become personal and address this “god” by name – Yahweh.
It is here where we find the key to Yahweh hearing the cries of His People. It is here where I’ve been parked for a week now, as I dive deep into the importance of covenant and how Father responds to and moves to action on behalf of, His set apart People, who cry out to Him, by Name.
Do you speak His Name? Do you speak to Him as a dear, intimate Father whose Name is regularly upon your lips like David did? I hope that you do. And if you do not, please consider “crying out” unto Yahweh... by Name. Selah.
