Formed & Fashioned

While doing a light study yesterday of the Hebrew word for “formed” it struck me as interesting that first appearances are: 1) Yahweh “forming” Adam out of the dust of the ground and 2) Yahweh “forming” animals from that same ground.
The next mention however doesn’t show up again until Exodus chapter 32. This time man is the one doing the “forming.” Yahweh’s People formed and fashioned a golden calf and, per Aaron’s odd instruction, they ascribed worship to it for being their deliverance from Egyptian slavery.
Today, let us learn from this. May we be a people that strive to simply fulfil our purpose, as we are filled with the breath of Elohim. Let us rejoice in being formed by the Creator to walk intimately with Him and be careful to not repeat the error of Exodus 32. Let us assign worship to no other as we patiently wait for His words to “come down from the mountain” and instruct us in the way.
How incredible is the life-giving Most High that formed man. There is surely none like Him. Patient. Slow to wrath. Abounding in love.
